Startup Europe rocked out at Slush 2016!

Startup Europe and WELCOME rocked out at Slush!

WELCOME’s largest delegation of startups ever (20 startups from Berlin, Dublin, Milan, Madrid and Salamanca) came together for one of the coolest startup events in Europe – many side-events and activities, for startups, accelerators and ecosystem builders alike, as WELCOME was once again representing Startup Europe as a whole.

29th of November was the first day, where some startups joined the Founder’s day, an exclusive activity for founders to provide mentoring and networking to prepare for the main event.

At night, WELCOME joined up with #ESNgoesNorth’s delegation for the first moment to get together as a group and set expectations for the big days ahead.

On the 30th, after the mandatory group pictures, startups were out and about to meet investors, attend industry specific sessions, participate in pitches, etc.

Also on the 1st day of Slush, WELCOME organised a European accelerators meetup: topics of funding & networking. Dozens of accelerators joined for a real buzzing event, just over the main Slush activities. For those who missed it, check out presentations on this link: Accelerator Assembly.

To wrap-up the first day, WELCOME was invited to attend Smeltende Sneeuw, a business networking event with Belgin beers, start-ups and representatives from Flanders Investment and Trade, together with digital agency Crop.

The 2nd day of Slush continued to be busy – booth continued to serve as meeting point for startups and ecosystem builders. A special mention to Constantijn van Oranje, one of the many distinguished visitors to Startup Europe’s corner.

During the morning of the 2nd day, WELCOME was also supporting head of Startup Europe Office Isidro Laso giving a workshop on connecting ecosystems, with a focus on available funding. Startup Europe was joined by Atomico, presenting its brand new report on the state of European tech.img_20161201_113950

WELCOME also had the pleasure of being invited to take part in a visit to the Spanish Embassy, along with its Spanish representatives.

Finally, after the event, some startups also joined an ecosystem tour visiting the Helsinki Business Hub, experts of the regional development agency for the Finnish capital region, and, leading Facebook marketing platform for large-scale performance marketers.

Another highlight for the event has been the performance of BEONPRICE, reaching the pitching semi-finals, thus being part of the 20 best startups at Slush!

That was the last Europass activity for WELCOME! It’s been a pleasure and we know our startups agree! Check our startups for Slush here:

To that end, Welcome links startups from five vibrant EU ecosystems — Berlin, Dublin, Madrid, Milan and Salamanca, to customers, VCs, business angels, corporates, mentors and other startups. The project targets aspiring entrepreneurs as well as early and late stage startups with activities enabling them to grow across borders and access the right combination of finance while helping corporates identify the best talents.
